Alternate Hill Climb Ride without the Road Work!
We climb the very base of Mt Lemmon up to Ba'ad Do'ag (2.9 mi) far below the traffic pile up and painting. We regroup and cruise down to the Mt Lemmon Short Road (L turnoff, no traffic control, stop if necessary before crossing the road). We regroup and cruise down the Short Road into Old Soldier Trail then down to Tanque Verde.
We go a few blocks East then Right into Forty Niners CClub. We regroup, stretch, get water at the Clubhouse then do the Niners Shuffle out to ... see below, just stay with the gang ... Cebadilla, then Right onto Redington and East to the end of the pavement - a favorite short, steep climb of yore. This ride was a common offering four or five years ago.
Finally, a regroup at the hill bottom and cruise back to Le Buzz on Redington/Tanque Verde. Sure want to spell Redington with two d's.
Bring plenty of water. This is roughly the same effort as the Hour Hill Climb.
A different ride from recents. Plenty of climb challenge. Enjoy a change up.
We'll pick up the Lemmon Hour Hill Climb on a future week as soon as it's pleasingly open.
That Shuffle: a CCW loop through the Country Club, then out to the East on Cape Horn to Cebadilla to Redington. That loop has many turns - Wagon to Soldier to Barbary Coast to Gold Dust to Cape Horn with the Wentworth jog. We stay together and the pack knows the way.
