  • We are only offering B level rides (15-18 mph) at this time.   A and C riders are welcome to join rides at their own pace and join the post ride social event.
  • You must be a member to register for a ride.  It is recommended that you login to register but it is not required.

    The West Side Hills Ride...   Ride with GPS Map

    NOTE: NEW START TIME (8 AM)

    Ride Description: The west side hills ride will take the bike path south and head out to Sunset Rd.   We will take Sunset to the top, then go over and ride Camino del Cerro to the top.  Lots of rolling hills, with regroups at the top of each road to enjoy the nice views.   There is the option of doing some of the hills and turning around as the front group comes down.

    There are no A or C ride leaders for this ride.  A-level riders can just go faster once we get to Sunset.  Suggested C ride option is to skip the climb up Sunset Road and just do El Camino del Cerro.

    The Dove Mountain Ride...   Ride with GPS map


    Ride to and through the scenic roads in Dove Mountain.   Head out south along La Canada, then Magee to Cortaro to Silverbell, then Coachline, Twin Peaks (across the I-10 overpass and Tangerine Rd).  Next it's up and over the hill on Dove Mt. with a stop for water and restrooms at the park at the very end of Dove Mt. road.   Return up and over Dove Mtn, then west along newly paved Moore Road and then south on La Canada Rd back to the start.

    The East Saguaro Sunset Dinner Ride...   Ride with GPS map



    This ride takes in the sunset from the Cactus Forest Overlook at 5:50 PM.  We will ride a loop through the Rocking K development and one loop through the park before a 2nd loop starting about 5:35. We will have happy hour and dinner at the Saguaro Corners Restaurant at 7:00 PM.

    Ride Notes:

    • A pass is required per car (not 4 people per pass). 
    • We will view the sunset at the Cactus Forest Overlook.  This is the 2nd outlook you pass on the lefthand side about 1.7 miles in.  You can view as much of the sunset as desired and then continue with the last 6 miles.  There should be sufficient light to finish the loop but be equipped with lights as a precaution.
    • The official sunset time is 5:50. This is essentially the time the sun disappears based on a flat horizon.  
    • Our table at Saguaro Corners restaurant will be outside.  Check in under Cactus Cycling or Mark Mench.  We have asked for separate checks and the servers may begin to take orders as people flow in.  Please review the menu in advance to streamline the ordering process.

    The Kitt Peak Event Ride...   Ride with GPS map 

    Today we tackle the ascent of Kitt Peak, a 12-mile climb.  Kitt Peak is rated as the third hardest climb in Arizona and 130th in the US.   Meet at the 386 turnoff in the dirt parking lot.

    Socialize with a tailgate party after the ride.

    • The 12-mile climb averages 5.7%.  34% of the climb is between 0 and 5%,  60% is between 5 and 10%, and the steepest section is 8.7% (see below).

    Starting in Sahuarita, this ride takes us to the beautiful San Xavier Mission along some country roads. San Xavier Mission is a National Historic Landmark and was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings.

    The Kitt Peak Event Ride...   Ride with GPS map 

    Today we tackle the ascent of Kitt Peak, a 12-mile climb.  Kitt Peak is rated as the third hardest climb in Arizona and 130th in the US.   Meet at the 386 turnoff in the dirt parking lot.
