    The Hangover Ride...   Ride with GPS map


    Level:  RECOVERY RIDE (B- pace)

    Terrain:  some  gradual hills, mostly flat

    Distance: 25 mi

    Recover from your celebrations or just start you new year right with a bike ride. This is a moderately flat recovery ride designed to finish in ~1.5 hours.  Those wishing to ride faster are welcome to start with us - but should expect to ride in their own group.

    After beginning at the usual Bruegger's Bagels start/finish location in Oro Valley, it takes in the Copper Creek, Rancho Vistoso, and Oro Valley/Sun City communities on smooth, well-marked neighborhood roads.  We'll also ride on the new bike path to Tangerine off of E. Rancho Vistoso Rd.  Route may be varied just for fun.

    This ride targets the 49er Country Club, the only club where Jack Nicklaus played competitively in Tucson (in 1963 and 1964) and also includes the McCartney Ranch, Reddington Pass, and a rest stop at the desert oasis in Aqua Caliente Park.  Socialize afterwards at Starbucks.

    The Saddlebrook Loop Ride...   Ride with GPS map


      This week we will ride on new pavement on Saddlebrooke Rd.

    Terrain: Medium Hills and one short steep one for the B ride.  No steep hill for the milder option

    Distance:   ~37

    Level: B

    Ride Description:

    The ride will go out to Saddlebrooke via Tangerine, Innovation, Rancho  Vistoso, Oracle and Eagle Crest Ranch Roads.   Then up the hills on Saddlebrooke and Catalina Hills Rds, then wander through the back part of Saddlebrooke on nice smooth roads.   A stop at the store, then return.  We will return via Clubhouse Dr and Edwin Rd. to Columbus and Twin Lakes Rd.

    There is no designated C ride leader at this time (volunteers?).  These riders might wish to self-organize, and can shorten the route by taking Saddlebrooke boulevard directly to the store, skipping the steep hill and wandering around the back side.

    Starting in Sahuarita, this ride takes us to the beautiful San Xavier Mission along some country roads. San Xavier Mission is a National Historic Landmark and was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings.

    The West Side Hills Ride...   Ride with GPS Map


    There may be a route change, using Camino de la Tierra over to the Rillito bike path, to avoid a bikepath closure along I-10.

    Ride Description: The west side hills ride will take the bike path and head out to Sunset Rd.   We will take Sunset to the top, then go over and ride Camino del Cerro to the top.  Lots of little hills, with regroups at the top of each road to enjoy the nice views.   There is the option of doing some of the hills and turning around as the front group comes down.

    Suggested C ride option is to skip the climb up Sunset Road and just do El Camino del Cerro.  There is no designated C ride leader and C riders may need to self-manage their ride.

    Ride to and through the scenic roads in Dove Mountain.   Head out along Cortaro to Silverbell, then Coachline, Twin Peaks and Dove Mt. roads.  Stop at the park at the end of Dove Mt. road.   Return along the newly paved Moore Road and La Canada Rd.

    The Mount Graham Event Ride... Ride with GPS Map

    Starting in Safford, this ride takes us on the most difficult climb in Arizona, 21st most difficult in the US, and 245th most difficult in the World. 

    Two start options:

    1. Meet at Mount Graham Grocery and Deli at 8:00 AM for 21.5-mile climb.
    2. Meet at Arcadia Campground (11 miles up) at 09:45 AM to join first group for 10.5-mile climb
